Healing in Color" explores themes of healing and emotional transformation. I was inspired by artists such as Sukenya Best and Lizzie Brown. Both artists in their own ways, helped others achieve peace. Each of my works serve as a testament to my journey to healing. Growing up as a black girl has presented numerous challenges. While my artworks don't capture every detail, they highlight key struggles that many people experience in their lives.

The abstract background helps emphasize the emotional depth of each piece. By keeping the faces ambiguous allows the viewers to see themselves within the artwork. Each piece acts as a chapter in my personal healing journey, reflecting pivotal moments of struggle and resilience. I incorporate three-dimensional elements in my paintings to extend beyond the canvas and invite the viewers in. It feels like reaching out of a window where suddenly, you’re not just observing, you become a part of the outside world. That is how I want my work to feel. That is the feeling I strive to create- a sense of connection. By extending parts outward, I activated the space between the artworks, encouraging viewers to engage more deeply.

While I was navigating this phase of my life, I discovered various aspects of my identity. I let go of toxic habits to nurture healthier traits and uncover parts of myself I hadn’t recognized before. In solitary moments, I struggled with making decisions that would determine my future, often asking myself “When is enough?” Healing does not happen overnight-it takes years. This body of work aims to connect with viewers and inspire them to overcome challenges in their own lives, inspiring them to overcome challenges in their own lives.
