Octavia Simmons is a multidisciplinary visual artist from Huger, South Carolina, and a proud recent graduate of Francis Marion University. Drawing from the rich cultural landscape of the South and her experiences as a Black woman, Octavia uses her art to communicate stories that are personal, powerful, and universally human.

While themes of healing, empowerment, and self-expression are deeply embedded in her work, her creative vision stretches far beyond that.

Octavia's art is also a space for exploration-of identity, community, memory, and emotion. She is interested in how color, texture, and form can challenge perceptions, create conversation, and shift perspectives. Her work often invites viewers into moments of vulnerability, joy, conflict, and curiosity.

Whether through digital illustrations, paintings, or mixed-media projects, Octavia seeks to create visual experiences that are layered and meaningful.

Her artistic practice is as much about reflection as it is about rebellion— against silence, invisibility, and narrow definitions of beauty or worth.

As a young emerging artist, Octavia continues to push boundaries in her work, exploring new techniques and mediums while staying grounded in storytelling. She believes in the power of art not only to heal, but to educate, confront, celebrate, and reimagine the world around us.
