This piece is a spiritual reckoning. I wanted to render Black Jesus not as an abstract symbol, but as a living embodiment of our collective resilience—radiant, watching, bleeding love and legacy. The red water flowing from his garment speaks to sacrifice, yes, but also to the transmission of power through generations. The Black mountains beneath him are ancestral—they hold memory, grief, and strength. ‘Split for Salvation’ is about divine rupture, about the sky opening up to remind us who we are and who we come from.
